Eighty-Six

8.00 Miles in 1:14:10
Mood: Exploratory and tired
Soundtrack: The Mediocre Show / The After Disaster

This is the weirdest weathervane I have ever seen. It's like Dr. Suess had an undersea fixation. What is hard to fully comprehend via this photo is just how ridiculously tall is the pole upon which this weather indicating instrument is affixed, and just how completely in the middle of these people's yard it is. This is quite the aberation to stumble across as you tour this neighborhood. I'm not going to try and misdirect you, though. I absolutely loved it. Here in the middle of a totally normal suburban string of homes is a very large pole with seafaring Timothy Leary's weathervane.

After a late night watching the Avalanche fall apart at the tail end of a Game 7 and get bounced from the Stanley Cup playoffs the night before, I was working with less than six hours of sleep, and my body let me know about it. I had to take several long walking breaks during this run because I was just too tired to keep running. It's remarkable how much difference a good night's sleep makes, and how run down you can feel so quickly when you don't get one. I still managed to get in 8 miles, but it was a slog.
