Thirteen Hundred Eighty-Six

April 27, 2022
5.02 Miles in 54:13
Mood: Hooray for the return of the pink trees!
Soundtrack: The Head and The Heart "Signs of Light"

The pink trees are now exploding in color everywhere. They are pretty and smell so good, and it makes it worth getting up at 6 AM to go see them on a run. Also, I managed a respectable five miles today while feeling fairly good doing it. All in all a great morning!

Mood: Spring can be great!

It was a gorgeous Colorado Saturday morning, and I was taking advantage in the best way I know how..going to Wash Park for a run! I am happy to report that the park and surrounding neighborhoods remain gorgeous, and also there is a LOT of Ukrainian support there, as evidenced by this photo. I was just happy to be enjoying a killer spring day.

Mood: Back at it again!
Soundtrack: The Dan Lebatard Show

It had been two weeks of being sick, and now that I'm finally getting better, it was WAY past time to get out for a run. It wasn't pretty, and I didn't feel great doing it, but I managed a few meager miles and got back on that horse. Three miles shouldn't be this big a struggle, but I was happy to get up and out in the morning for a change! Also, we are in April, which means it's pink tree season. This bloom came from a tree that wasn't all that pink just yet, but the pinkness is hopefully coming!

Thirteen Hundred Eighty-Three

April 7, 2022
2.76 Miles in 30:30
Mood: Dragging my sick self along.
Soundtrack: The Ringerverse

I had started to feel sick the night before, but still went for a run on this Thursday morning. I could tell pretty quickly that I didn't have my lungs, but I haven't had a cold since before the pandemic started, so I wasn't used to dealing with sickness. This is a pretty nasty cold, but it was still a beautiful morning, so I enjoyed it even though I couldn't even muster 3 miles.

5.24 Miles in 58:35
Mood: Good run, good flag
Soundtrack: The Ringerverse

I didn't run until Sunday afternoon, but once I got out there, I felt really good. Maybe the best run I've had in a month. I stopped to take a picture of this Ukrainian flag because I thought it was cool looking and it makes me happy to have something that almost everyone from every political camp can mostly agree upon. That is unreasonably rare, but pretty much everyone in America can agree that Russia is out of line.

Mood: A nice morning run highlighted by a new art piece
Soundtrack: The Ringerverse

New art at Goodson! Stacked shiny rocks! I've seen better, but I always appreciate it when they put up new pieces.

Mood: Why is this stuff sitting here??
Soundtrack: TBTL

I ran on the Highline Canal, and along the way found this little ledge with all sorts of random junk on it. I don't know why all of this stuff was here, but I do know that there did not seem to be any manner of cohesive theme, which made it somewhat adorable, but also kind of like a pile of junk badly in need of a rubbish bin.

5.07 Miles in 53:38
Mood: I am not a sneaky photographer
Soundtrack: The Ringerverse

I was trying to get a photo of a very cute Westie that was being held by a man in Wash Park, but it turns out that I'm not very good at being sneaky and instead of a photo of a cute dog, I got a picture of the park lawn with a shadow of a tree. It also was the only picture I took, so here it is in all it's glory. Just know that very nearby was a super adorable dog, and pretend that's what you're looking at.

March 23, 2022
3.47 Miles in 38:53
Mood: Not super impressed with El Paso
Soundtrack: Texas morning sounds

I hadn't added a new state in awhile but we made a trip south for spring break, and I managed to get in a run on our only day in the state of Texas. That means the states run in for the blog list is up to 16... Colorado, Kansas, Washington, South Dakota, Illinois, Arizona, New Mexico, Louisana, Mississippi, Iowa, Florida, Pennsylvania, Wyoming, Utah, Hawaii and Texas.

I'm sure there are beautiful places to run in the state of Texas, but El Paso was not one of them. I ran through some middling neighborhoods and a few okay places, but nothing all that interesting to look at. I was thinking that my photo might end up being a hand painted Dallas Cowboys logo I saw on someone's driveway until I was in the final stretch of my run and I passed Mr. Al's. I do not know what type of business Mr Al's is, but they have a big Statue of Liberty out front, so I know they are reputable.

Mood: Out of sorts
Soundtrack: TBTL

I started work early so that I could get out early for an afternoon run. My diabetes didn't cooperate, though, as I ran one solid mile, but then a low blood sugar ruined my roll and I ended up mostly walking around DeKoevand Park and walking home to get food. I even forgot to take a picture until I walked into my house, but my daughter had just put up a window art cling, so I shot a picture of that and called it good. Everything was off about this one. It happens.
